new paint! I used "fire red" interlux with a 3" foam roller and a brush for tight spots.

This is what it looked like when i got it. It was custom airbrushed in 1990, and wasnt cutting it anymore.

I cleaned up the engine bay first thing, and added a battery cutoff switch

Then painted the hull

i personally love that retro airbrush,, but most dont.

i'd be curious how the new paint holds up over time

bump for a ski you could eat off of. awesome color choice. how easy is that interlux to work with? need to paint a few of my skis and have heard great things about this paint. curious as to what you did to prep the hull, and how the paint comes out when using a roller? clear coat as well ?

Thanks for all the feedback.

I didnt thin the paint at all, it was straight out of the can. As for prepping the hull, I sanded the entire thing with a belt sander. More so in places where the paint was in worse shape.

I used a foam roller, and tiny bubbles formed when i rolled it on. As the paint dried they all went away. I did two coats. No clear coat. Warning- The paint is a bitch to clean up compared to latex paint.

Hey Evan, you need to come up to Marysville and run some river with us.....:aargh4:

Hey Crab, thanks for the invite. I'd be down for that some time this summer. Regardless of where I ride, I just need to get out there. I've got about 2 hours on the water over the last six months. Time to re-prioritize.
