New Memeber, Bought a 2000 XL800 Yamaha

Hello everyone, I'm new here and just bought a Waverunner, so I have a lot to learn. This ski has very few hours and looks completely new, always under full cover....EXCEPT it doesn't run..ouch!!

So being mechanically inclined, and getting a Bro deal...I hope, I decided to see if I can fix it. The previous owner (a bud) said he was running and it stopped, then he started it and it ran a little longer and stopped, maybe one more time them no more. He is totally not mechanically inclined!

I'm thinking siezed up, but need to figure that out tomorrow, and figure how to turn over the engine.

First question, if it is siezed up, will I still here the starter click and try to engage? If I hit the switch and there is absolutely no sound, where should I start?

Fianlly, where's the best place to get a service manual??

I'll keep you all in the loop as I run down this path of discovery!!

Well I think the first thing I need to replace is the battery. It has an off brand battery that was totally dry. Can anybody tell the be YUSA battery number for this Yamaha XL800, and if it would be a good idea to get a gell cell one. Would that be an upgrade?

Not to sound like a turd but you might want to check out GreenHulk.net They are more sitdown....here is more standup. You might have better luck getting answers to your questions.
