whatsup everyone just thought id introduce myself. im chris, im 20, and i live in cape canaveral but im in miami every month. i stuntride sportbikes but im really set on getting into some surfriding/freestyle. ive seen some vids at sebastian and monsterhole but thats about it. if anyone is down to help a newb learn a little and let ride with them let me know. im trying to get a ski as we speak and when i do im sure ill have questions. seems like a pretty nice forum here so i think ill be stickin around. thanks

Welcome to the forum. Your looking for a Superjet right??? Haha or maybe an a/m hull... Sounds like you'll be a candidate for the Daytona freeride. What kind of bike are you stunting?

thanks....well im looking for a sj or an sxr just because of price...ive got a minty gsxr never stunted im selling or trying to trade for something. id like a newer ski if possible too. the am hulls seem a bit expensive for a newb haha. and thats the first ive heard of that. when is it? and i ride a 03-04 636 http://vimeo.com/43872728 theres a vid im on the checkered bike with blue frame and green wheels

Nice video you have some skill on that 636. The 636 is such a solid bike... I just recently totaled my cbr1000.... Oops. As far as the skis go most will argue that the sxr is the best ski out of the box and I can somewhat agree with that statement. However, the most nimble skis for surf riding/ freestyle will always be the Superjet. The 96-07 have a different bottom deck than the 08+. I like the 96-07 bottom desks as I feel they are a bit more freestyle friendly and the newer ones seem to want to compete more in buoy racing and carving. Just like motorcycles this is a hobby u can definitely dump some coin into. Make sure your happy with your purchase and whatever u decide on ride the crap out of it and learn that hull front to back. Riding in the surf you'll be wrenching but them again that goes along w the sport... Learn Ab your motor, pump setup, cooling etc etc. Just like an AR you can also build a ski to fit your preference thus I mentioned the am hulls... Regardless welcome to standups... Always happy to expand the sport and hopefully you'll find a nice ski and get ripping soon!

thanks and that sucks about the cbr and yeah i dont mind wrenching at all its what i do for a living but on cars. yeah im gonna be looking hard for a ski theres a few on cl near me stock but idk if i should try to find one already set up or what

If given the option- buy one with some goodies already on it. It'll save you some cash and wrenching time. Pipe , prop and steering are some good basics. But nothing wrong with a clean, stock ski to build as you learn.

There are several in the bay area. Andre has his modded SN SJ, I'm willing to sell my stock RN, pete has a full limited race SXR. Lots of choices if you're ever up near tampa.

thanks again everyone...i found an o4 sj thats just under 4k and an 04 sxr around the same price....i have a little more than that to play with budget wise but id like to have as much money left over for parts. i dont have a facebook so i cant join that group,,,,,wouldent mind making a trip over to tampa to pick up a ski if i dont find one.

Alright so I've been looking at a few am hulls used and was wondering if some are not so great for surfroding since that's what ill be doing mostly. I've been looking at an emeq8 and a wdk rok the rok is more in my budget but I don't want to waste money building a flatwater ski. I was planning on dropping a stock sj power plant in wbaterver Hull for now. Or should I just get a sj. And ride that?
