Open circuit voltage State-of-Charge in % of a 12V flooded lead acid battery.

Test the battery at room temperature. Allow 4-8 hour of rest after charge or discharge.

12.65 Volts = 100%
12.45 Volts = 75%
12.24 Volts = 50%
12.06 Volts = 25%
11.89 Volts or less Discharged.

Use a 1 or 2 Amp Automatic Trickle Type Battery Charger.

i always put a new lead acid cell on a battery tender till the LED is solid green.

That's the best bet. Especially for a KB-35. They use battery tenders at Jetworks and it'll be at 90% plus when shipped, but it wouldn't hurt to throw it on one til it's all the way full.

Never hot charge a sealed gel or AGM battery with high voltage and currents. If these recombinant batteries ever get hot or gas through the safety valve you are killing the battery. This will greatly reduce the life and capacity of the battery. Some manufacturers recommend a temperature compensated charger although the 1-2 amp trickle chargers are generally safe. I think the maximum charge voltage is around 14.2 v. Use the voltage chart above to check the condition of the battery. This is really the only way to tell the level of charge.
