need x2 help before daytona

well me and a friend got a lot done on my x2 this weekend trying to get ready for daytona. well we went for a water test yesterday and it ran great for about 10 minutes and it ran fine on the stand, then it just started sounding funny and lost a lot of power. it sounded and acted like i blew the coupler on the pipe. well that was fine the exhaust mani and head pipe arent held down real good at the moment and i was wondering if that was causing the problem. it looks to be fine no smoke under the hood or any other usual symptoms. im going to start by replacing the mani and re-doing the exhaust, but im concerned it could be something else like reeds or even carb. compression is fine and nothing appears to be wrong. so im looking for a few ideas to check tonight.
thanks

i did change the waterbox could a clogged box do this?

the more i sit here and thank about it, it sounds like its running on one cyl. will the coil go bad this way or is it all or nothing? thanks mad it may be the box if it had something in there and i jarred it loose on my first ride, we havent ran this box until yesterday.

Cut back your plug wires, we had the same problem on shanex-2's ski this weekend and this fixed it.

now i feel like a dumba$$, i had my 550 do this over summer and it was kind of acting the same way. thanks for the help i starred at it to long this weekend i guess and i didnt even think of this.

thanks again im really hoping its something like this, hell its got to be it was running to good and pretty much everything checked out that i remembered to check. i will redo the wires tonight:439:

well i didnt get a chance to change the mani last night, im still having brake problems:soapbox:
but i did pull the wires and plugs and checked them, both a firing so thats not the prob (yet). so i plan on changing the other tonight, but im still looking for options? i want everything right and if you have a suggestion throw it out there i would rather check 10 things that are fine then to still be scratching my head

you say that your manifold and headpipe arent held down real good. that could cause MAJOR running issues and engine/manifold/headpipe damage, aside from the obvious exhaust leak factor. especially on the top of the kawi manifolds where the cooling jacket isnt sealed off and dripping water into the exhaust ports.

....if thats what you mean by not held down real good.

na i meant it only had 2 bolts in it, i do think this is the culprit though. im using a wc mani and a mariner pipe, both head pipe and mani have the water blocked off from the stock mani. and i would have never thought differently but it doesnt seem to be leaking, with it running i have had my hand all around it and felt nothing there was also no smoke under the hood????

thanks sfl
