Other Need some wave venture help!!!

I picked up a '96 wave venture with a blown 1100 motor. My plan is to put a 701 in it and let the wife and kiddo play on it. It is a whole lot bigger and more stable than the Kawi SS I put together for them.

I've been trying to compare the exhaust on the 700 and the 1100 and I'm pretty sure the 1100 water box, and exhaust hoses are way bigger than what they would be for the 700.

My questions are:

1. Can I run a 701 motor and just reduce the exhaust hose when it gets to the water box? Will this be a problem because of how big the hoses are from the 1100 and not create enough back pressure??? I noticed there are two oulets in the pump area for the 1100... is there only on on the 700?

2. Can I use a stock 701 exhaust (it points the wrong way from the waveventure one) and just run a longer hose back through the firewall to the water box??

3. Or... will I be stuck trying to replace the hoses and water box with that from a 700 model??

4. Is it worth the effort? I have most all of the motor parts, etc. I just need a few knick knack pieces here and there...

Thanx in advance for the help.

I did the same modifications and ended up changing the exhaust all the way back in order to keep the back pressure up. There is a reason Yamaha went to a smaller exhaust on the 701s... Where the exhaust exits in the pump, I changed it back to a single 701 outlet and made an aluminium plate to block out the rear hole.

2. Can I use a stock 701 exhaust (it points the wrong way from the waveventure one) and just run a longer hose back through the firewall to the water box?? Yes, I originally had a stock SJ exhaust on mine but eventually opted out for the larger chamber to get the extra hp out of it. You will just need to make up the bends to get the exhaust going towards the rear.

3. Or... will I be stuck trying to replace the hoses and water box with that from a 700 model?? I found it easier in the end to just replace all the 1100 parts with 701 parts from waveraiders and wave ventures. There are plenty of them being parted out around the place, so parts should be cheap.

4. Is it worth the effort? I have most all of the motor parts, etc. I just need a few knick knack pieces here and there... I originally had both the 1100 and 701 Waveventures, so I knew what I was getting into, but I personally think it was worth it. I do occasionally miss the power of the 1100, but with fuel costing $6.75 USD per gallon over here, it definitely made financial sense.

I also ended up changing the pump, as the 701 is just not enough grunt to move a 155 impeller through the water. I think I used a stock waveraider pump and impeller from memory, but I need to change impellers as it does cavitate occasionally...

Thanx in advance for the help.
