Super Jet need some help

ok guys im new to the stand up world. i just installed a new mat kit on my ski and its rubbing the crap out of my knees and elbows. a guy told me i could take some fine grit sandpaper and sand the top layer off a bit and it will make it softer. is this the best way? thanks ahead of time for the input!

Welcome to the X!!
Do you have hydro-turf? maybe your riding on your knees too much....Idk if sanding it down would help..

Where in Ga are you at? I ride most at toona but go over to lainer some times. Did you use the foam under mat when you installed the turf? If so did you cut pieces and put them where you elbows go? And double up where you put your knees? I learn that to make sure to make those areas plush.

im in warner robins ga. ride at lake tobosofskee. i put the foam under where you stand but not where your elbows go. its almost like its too rough and causes me to get a rash. idk maybe it just needs to be worn/broke in..

Turf does that and wearing it in doesn't really help too much. It is designed to provide traction. Best suggestion is to not contact it as much as possible. Wear knee pads until you are comfortable enough to not need them anymore. Over time, you won't even notice the turf anymore.

ok yeah thats kinda what i was wanting to do. sanding it just didnt seem right. ill try the knee pads and will prolly get a long sleeve rash guard shirt. thanks for the help!
