need some help with my jet ski problem...

the cooling was working, both pissers were pissing really well, i already pulled the cylinder a couple hours ago, its pretty scraped up , and the rings are seized inside the groves on one pistons. My camera broke so i cant take any pics, but i have no messed with the carbs after the set up. The guy before me had the ski set up with all this mumbo jumbo riva pipe, MSD water injections and other things so i took my chances. but i guess it wont hurt to check the jetting

If you have made any changes from what he was running on the motor then you need to check the jetting. Alot of factors play into jetting other than the pipe. I built a new motor this year and I didn't hold it WOT until about the fifth tank when I knew the jetting was correct. I dont know what wisco recommends for break in but I can tell you that I knew it was blown up before I even told you to check compression. I just didn't want to be the bearer of bad news. Good luck on your rebuild and resist the temptation to romp on your new motor. I know how hard it can be.

Hey Nick… I'm sorry to hear this happened but can you post some pictures of the damage piston in the cylinder.

I've had real bad luck myself running the dual 38s with one fuel pump on a ported cylinder at WOT.

You may want to block off your intake manifold crossover and install an additional fuel pump on the front carb to help with this problem. I went through three sets of pistons at wide open throttle before switching to dual 44s to cure that problem. Also you should have been running a minimum of 25:1 mixing ratio for the first two tanks of fuel.

I usually do 2 tanks 20:1 (doubleoil) when ride go throught the power bands and never WOT. I still don't go WOT in fear of deto and siezures, maybe on a stock boat, but with those mods make sure it is right. oooch! Make sure you put it back together yourself to really get a good lesson. Good luck. It has happened to all of us. I was missing a wrist pin clip, found it shortly after I started the ski and it siezed in my garage, at least you got wet. That was years ago......
