Need Help Registering home made boat in NJ

nee to register my home made boat in nj, the dmv told me to go to the coast guard, i cant get any info from the coast guard, nor do i know if theres on near me, anyone know how to do this

It's a pain. I was able to go to Florida and register mine and it was unbelievablely easy.

In NJ, from what I experienced last year, the process is that you have to take your boat to a marine police station (not Coast Guard, but NJ State Marine Police) and they will write out some form that states that your boat is seaworthy. Then go to DMV and submit a request for VIN. Then register.
 
Around here you need to get a hold of the DNR cops to do such a thing. So just ride it like a mad man and then when you get stopped tell them that you were trying to get their attention so you could ask them a question.

You have to go to the State Police I believe the website is njsp.org/maritime Call their base in Atlantic city and tell them what you have and they'll tell you what you need to do.
