Need Advice

My ski is a 2002 and is limited (pipe, head, prop)

just this year i began to notice a few things that kind of made me wonder
i had to change spark plugs at least 8 times over the summer. It would foul plugs like no other(or maybe just rich)
Another problem i had with this is when i came out of a no wake zone and went to hit the throttle, i would almost be runnin on one cylinder, it would run really rough for about 10-15 seconds and then clear up.

im not sure whats up, it could be in the carbs(need rebuild) or electrical(coil,CDI) im not quite sure

all i know is once id throw in new plugs it would be fine for a few weekends

if ya know anyway to give me some advice on what it could be please post

Try trimming back your plug wires where they go into your boots. It could be weak spark due to bad connections. Quick and easy to check, and a known problem so it's good place to start.

Also try setting your carbs with a tach. sounds like you are loading up bad.

just went and checked the plug caps and one was broken off
from the coil part

looks like ill be gettting some msd caps

Do you guys wire the Tach in permanently of just rig one up for testing. I hear this mentioned all the time but have never seen one installed. I run a Hottach on my Sitdown but couldn't imagine where to stick one on my stand ups.

I think its Spark. I had a problem last year with not enough spark, I had an old MSD and was giving crappy spark. was fouling plugs. But in beginning of the year it was fine and no replacing plugs.

I got new msd enh. and finished the season on the same plugs. lol

Xscream set up the ski and nothing changed, thats why i did not understand..

OH YA... I had a bunch of water in the e-box.. It did not like that very much !

I would try MSD enhancer. :arms:

Forgot to add. the Crap gas with ethanol does not help at all !

Just use one for testing and setting the carbs. A tiny tach will not work they don't update fast enough. Need to use a Fluke or something comparable.
