YZ250FPilot needs the splined tool that goes up inside the mid shaft so he can put his billet coupler on. The tool looks like a Kawasaki prop wrench.

He will pay shipping to and from if you can get it here this week. You will get your tool back!

Otherwise, he needs an old drive shaft that he can cut off and make a tool out of.

PM him for more details.

I made myself a tool from a driveshaft, ground two flats on it, works well. Even then I heat the coupler with a torch to soften the dried teflon paste. Remember that aluminum has a coefficient of expansion that's almost twice that of steel, so some heat certainly helps.

right....that is why I was in search of the "tool," or an old driveshaft so I could make my own.

Take a hack saw, cust almost up to the threads in three places. Take a sledhe hammer and break it off.

I did that once on a Kawasaki coupler. Then my billet one didn't fit so I had ot put an old one back on... figures.

I am glad I bought the coupler wrench this year. It has already paid for itself. You owe me a beer for using it the other day too! Or some crab legs haha

Kennay, I will post a pic of my coupler wrench. All Kawasaki did was bolt a piece of steel plate to a standard coupler with three bolts. It has a 1/2" drive wrench square hole in the center of it. The plate is aboput 5/16" thich.

If you have an old Yamaha coupler, you could make you own.

I called the local dealer with false hopes and got some hillbilly in the service area that said....."superjet? Is that one of those ones you stand up on?" oh yeah....he can hook me up. It ended up that Billy Bob was a super-dumbazz

Well the vise ain't workin on this little job.

Make sure you use a chain wrench on the couplet too when you install the new billet one. Nothing says ghetto like a chewed up billet coupler.

To get the old one off, just use a pry bar. If you break a few fingers oh well. That adds HP. Less rotating mass. It is all physics and $hit.

Hacksaw is looking better and better....

augustaf hooked a brutha out in need!!!! I got the tool today, and check this....

I popped the midshaft on the cut shaft with splines and put DBR's coupler tool on it and thought I was gonna hafta crank on it..................

It went "plink" and popped loose immediately. I thought..you have gotta be sh!ttin' me. With the midshaft in the vise, all it did was turn the shaft. With the tool, it was like nothing to pop it loose.

Anyway, there was grease behind the old coupler, no magical adhesive. I screwed the new billet one on and cranked 'er down.

Thanks augustaf! the tool will be back in the mail tomorrow!! you da man!:bananapowerslide:
