I know I'm going to get some slack from this, but I need some help with the sitdown. I tried the other site but like always I got no help. It's a 01 GP800R. It has 200 hours on it. It starts fine and runs fine for about 10 min. then after that it just kills and does not start up. when I try to start it back up it spins, but does not crank. It kinda makes the same sound as when you crank it with out the spark plugs. One of the pissers does not piss. I tried to back flush but it did nothing. I really hope its something easy. B/c I really want to sell this thing! If anyone wants to buy a broken ski let me know. lol

perhaps it is overheating because it is not getting water flowing through the cooling as you can see since the pisser is not running... I have never had an overheat sensor on my skis kick on, but maybe that is what it will do???

you need to find where that blockage is in your cooling line or fitting... sometimes it is right IN the fitting itself... 5-10 minutes would sound about right if it had some water in there but little circulation... get that pisser working for sure no matter what...

it's probably a combination of things jackie.

one your starter bendix is going which would explain the starting and then not starting up again.

the pisser thing is probably due to have severe salt corrosion on the motor...

the other thing is that it could be lite seizing itself which would explain the sound it makes like the plugs are out. do a compression test on the motor and see what it is.

I did a back flush for about 20 min with salt away. Then I shot about 90 psi into each line. Any other thoughts on how to clear it ? I hate working on this ski sooooo much its such a P.I.A. :shooter3:

start taking apart the cooling system to inspect hoses and fittings... I have read threads about guys with cooling problems with things getting jammed in fittings and stuff...

My '92 XP somehow swallowed a tiny piece of wood that made it's way into the pisser and became stuck at the exit nozzle (think of a blockage at the urethrae). Blowing compressed air didn't do anything. It required a disassembly.

Your problem sounds to me like overheating. Find out why it's not pissing right.

Take the cooling system completely apart and clean it out good. Check your compression and post your results.

I do a very simple, inaccurate, test for compression.

Remove the plug and see if it blows my thumb off the hole strongly.

If it's a weak blow, U got weak compression.

(Completely inaccurate test and not guaranteed to work all the time, if ever.)

Of course, do that test with the engine warmed.

PS: Running your ski outta the water for 10+ minutes is not often a good idea.

go get a craftsman compression gage at sears!!! then you can put the thumb in another hole... haha j/k

compression gage should be in everyone's toolbox... I need to get a better one... I have been using a $25 gage from advanved autoparts for the past 4 years... craftsman is next on my list... snapon if you're rich and want the best...

when i was on a urology rotation they fixed stuff like this all the time through the piss hole. you just need an x-ray machine, strong catheter, plenty of anesthesia and a strong stomach:puke:

Just finshed with the test let me know if any of this makes sence. When I first tried to spin it over it just sounded kinda like if someone put rocks into there dryer and turned it on. :scared: So I pulled both plugs out and sprayed a ton of WD-40 and spun it for about 3 sec. put the plugs back and started right up. Oh i forgot one of the pulgs was white and kinda rusty (Im sure nothing is wrong with that.) So when I put the gauge on it spun once and stoped. when i pulled the other plug it spun and tested at 120psi. On the back cylinder (with the white plug) I got a reading of 160psi. and the motor started to run while testing.
Sorry for making this so long. I just want to get this thing fixed so i can sell it. Thanks ahead of time for all the help.

No the one I was not testing I had in the cylinder like norm. The other plug I had hooked to the wire and had it on top of the head. Im guessing I did this wrong?

Yes disconnect the plug wires and ground them,I do this by putting a set of old plugs with the gap closed in the wires and laying them on the head. Then spin the engine over and get your compression reading.
