Super Jet Need a detailed pic or some advice. :(

My woes continue. If you've been following my other thread, you'll remember that my stator came loose and caused some carnage. Stator is toast, as is the flywheel. I still don't have it completely cleaned up but noticed something that made me want to puke. The raised 'boss' 'or whatever it's called that has the arrow on it to line up your timing with the stator plate is sheared right off.

So, can anyone tell me if I can still align this right? I am wondering if I can use another machined detail to line this up? There is a rib that leads to that boss that looks like it may have lined up pretty closely with the arrow.

Was the arrow originally right in the center of that boss?

Or does anyone have a nice clean pic of that area of the crank without a stator installed so I can try to figure out how I can accomplish this?

Or am I screwed? I am running an MSD, so I think thatr gives a little more forgiveness if I end up a bit more advanced than stock.

If you want to send me your stator, I can scribe a mark on it from one of the other bosses as reference. That way you won't have to do any guesswork :)

Before I realized the timing marks where there I'd just eye ball it, the mounting screw leaves a witness mark on the old stator plate, I'd mock up the mounting screw back in the plate on the bench and measure the distance with a machinist rule from the head of the screw to the edge of the adjustment window then do the same measurement with the new plate on the engine and locknut down. Not sure if yours has enough window left to measure since some of your was torn away. I do have a stator here I can try to get you that measurement if it would help

Thanks guys! I just got back from the cellar and found two things that will help me. The stator I got from Jetmaniac is used(which I knew upfront) but in like-new condition. But it DOES have 'witness marks' where the mounting screws had been. The other little gem I found amongst the rubble in my hull were all the busted off bosses. I cleaned them all up, and to my great joy one of them had the arrow on it. :) When fitted against where it used to reside, it fits in nicely, and thans to a jagged edge it locks exactly where it was. I'm not going to glue it on or anything crazy like that, but I can definitely have it held in place as a timing reference as I tighten the stator screws....once I remove the one that sheared off.

So, perhaps the crisis is averted. But I greatly appreciate you guys taking the time on a Saturday morning to help a brutha out!!
