I totally agree with Derrick and know where hes coming from. I went to the Racine national couple weeks ago to do my first freestyle comp in amateur class and the guys who took first and second could have been top honors in pro class. I don't remember the names but I met em and they were all great guys but definitely not "amateur " in my eyes.

What do you guys consider an "amateur"? In my mind, an amateur is someone who has not been in the sport very long(let's say a year or so), never has competed before the nationals and abides by the AM rules. That is my opinion.

From my understanding alex and Lucas who are both competing in amature from what I have been told are both running over 900cc. And in amature the limmit IS 900cc. I could be wrong but IF so than that would be a unfair advantage

Never in my post did I say I was stating facts. If you read it again I said I could be wrong and it was just my understanding. Thanks for clearing that up thou

Lucas is playing "by the book" but I'm not quite sure about Alex!!

everybody knows that in this sport you gotta pay to play! Their is no need for other competitors to "hate" because they can't afford the right equipment .

Lucas has skills and can actually beat some of the pro's out their... he is just following the path towards becoming a champion, which means he has to win all the amateur levels first before entering into the pro's.

Man...where in my post is there any sign of "hate". I worded it the way I did for a reason cause I wasn't sure. Notice the capitalized IF meaning they may or may not be

Right on...you had my post quoted so thought you were refering to me. Honestly I could care less, if people need that kinda power to compete more power to them. It will just make the guys who have less feel that much better when they beat the guys who have more=)

I thought you had to win AM Worlds or Nationals to advance to become a Pro level rider or at least that seems like a logical path .

I don't think you have to in order to ride as pro. I think if you feel you are good enought they would let you ride as pro but I'm not sure so don't take my word for it

No one would even bother getting into freestyle if it were like that. Many top level pros never won Amatuer at Worlds, and they're doing great in the Pro class. You'll waste your career if you focus on winning amateur at worlds, you'd be better off just skipping it and going straight to pro. Amateur has become a pro-like class any ways, the talent there is way too high for the lowest Freestyle class available.
