Yeah we stayed at lakewood camground....Then we went out Murrels inlet..there is a public boat launch next to Captain DICKS(no joke) and you have to be careful going out cause the cops arent too friendly and already wrote us up with alota fines...but its like a little cove that takes you out to the little bay area and then the inlet is right there to go to the surf..Id say is start at the boat launch you can be in the ocean in about 5 mintues from the launch so its not too bad and u can play around and rest in the bay..there are sandbars to park up on in the bay ..Cool place to hang out..We are going back down the last week in april i believe

I actually did some research, 100yards (not that bad) and we are going in early March. I'm hoping the 50 degree ocean temps keep everyone out of the water and we will be left alone.

What time of the year did you go there?

Sec. 5-18. Operation of jet skis.

It shall be unlawful to operate any jet ski in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean abutting the city within 100 yards of the point where the ocean adjoins the strand during the period from April 15th to September 15th of any year, except that jet skis may be launched from and returned to the beach on a course approximately perpendicular to the beach. When launching or returning as described above, the jet ski shall be operated as slowly as surf conditions shall permit and in such a manner as to avoid all swimmers or other persons in the water. For the purposes of this chapter, the term jet ski shall include wave riders and any other similar vehicles by whatever name.

Sec. 5-19. Launching jet skis and motor boats.

Notwithstanding the provisions of section 5-10 and 5-18 above, it shall be unlawful to launch jet skis and motor boats from the beach or return them to the beach from April 15th to September 15th of any year at any point along the oceanfront in the areas of the TA-180 zone south of 29th Avenue South to 31st Avenue North and from 69th Avenue North to 77th Avenue North. Provided, however, this prohibition shall not apply to licensed operators, as of the effective date of this ordinance, who operate banana boats and parasailing rides. Said operators may continue their current watersport activities south of 29th Avenue south, at the Swash at 3rd Avenue South, between 8th and 9th Avenue North. Provided, however, said operators shall, in consultation with the Beach Patrol, mark off a "safe zone" channel in the surf zone, 50 to 100 feet wide for jet skis to enter and exit the water. Further, the operator shall provide at least two personnel on the beach. One in the water to help keep people out of the safe zone and to assist in the launching and beaching of the jets skis, and one on the beach to assist the customers and to keep people from going into the safe zone. Operators shall follow all applicable Federal and State boating and safety regulations.

No ticket sales or advertising shall be allowed on the publicly owned beach.

Jet skis may be refueled at water's edge, so long as it is done in a safe and prudent manner. In the event of spillage, the operator shall contain the spill and shall immediately notify the Beach Patrol.

Did you try launching from the campground? I talked with the staff @ lakewood and they said its not a problem to launch if you have a beach cart.

Thats awsome :arms: ..i guess i should have asked them if i could lol..IF you hear anymore about the area let me know..i dnt kno much just from what we expeirenced there good luck in your trip

If you want to launch from the beach you have to do it before 8 AM or after 5 PM. As long as the life gurads are on duty you arn't allowed to launch from the beach. I have been to Myrtle beach for the last 5 years in a row becasue my mother-in-law gets a condo and we stay there for free... That is the ONLY reason we go there.

I have taken the ski to the beach 3 years in a row and with the small bass boat size surf there was no reason to put the ski in the water for that. I did ride last year because there was a storm coming in and the waves got pretty high but it still wasn't worth the cleaning washing and all the hassel of hauling it down there. The ski won't even go this year.

If you have any other place that you would like to visit I would suggest trying some other place for waves. Unless you just want to ride the the intercoastal is ok if you just want to sight see. But I have also heard that the cops are asses on the intercoastal.

i agree on the waves. been to hilton head a few times and every time i have been there its like a pancake. only times there were waves were when there was a hurricane coming up the coast.

i heard delaware has a cool camp site that some people have gone to on here. i forget where.

Not really to concerned about having waves, I just want to ride in water thats in the 50s. I am going to call the place we are staying and see if the lifeguards are on duty this time of the year and find out when they are there. I am hoping its not until April 15th, so we can launch on the beach during the day. All I really care about is riding, its been almost 4 weeks since we last rode here and I am going nuts. And having some beers with a campfire sounds nice!

If anyone knows anywhere that about equal (or less) travel time, that its better for riding. I am definetly interested.
