I only ground down the small ones (1/8 in high) so that i could get good adheasion of the resin to the hull and I'm planning on adding a layer or two of carbon kevlar or plain carbon to replace the ribs. This hull is kinda like a guinea pig for my designs and school projects(I am an engineering student):woot: :sneaky:

Man go back and look at that thread and then tell me why you are using polyester resin. That pile of fiberglass there was all pulled loose with a screwdriver,it took me all of 10 minutes to pull it all off.Polyester resin will not stick to smc period. The smc has a mold release mixed in with the material. Now guess what you use on a mold so that the resin will not stick to it,thats right mold release.Epoxy only on smc,its the only correct way to do it period.

He's right, it looks like it sticks, but will come loose. I learned it the hard way with my old 550.

Usually if its on a flat surface if i can get ac corner of it loose I can grab the corner and snatch the hell out of it and the whole repair will come loose,I ahve done it manty times.A lot of what I do here is repair other peoples attempts at fiberglass and smc repair.I just finished a kawi stx1100 Friday and am working on a yama gp1200r at the moment. That one should be going into primer tomorrow and paint later on this week. That whole area under the fairing compound has been repaired.
