Hey guys, I got out to do some riding this weekend and decided to try some subs.

I have a completely stock '08 and I've been riding for about 2 months.

Anybody have any comments or suggestions on how to get deeper, stay on easier, my form, etc?

I'm assuming this is easier with footholds or straps, too... Squeezing my boots against the inside of the gunwales isn't very comfortable or efficient.

thanks :) I'm definitely getting some footholds this winter. I'd do it now, but don't want to lose the riding time.

Is my form ok though? Crouching, positioning, actions, etc?

Yeah - get foot holds these help a ton..

Also helps if you lower the pole and get your weight over it and almost throw yourself over the pole as you do your last hop and go for it. You have to *want* to go under!

Be careful doing them without foot holds as you could get flung over the top if they go in too steep/fast and break the pole

When you get real good at them - as you go under apply full left steering and 1/2 throttle to turn underwater and resurface/come out the same way you went in (takes practice but looks cool!)

Have fun!

Nice! I like it when I see peeps tryin new tricks with stock equipment!
Get you some footholds and you'll be tryin all kinds of new tricks...
You can mod your pole by cutting it shorter too. Nice mod for an oem pole!

I'd install a bilge pump as well. Doesn't cost that much either.

A mod that won't cost you anything is to cut your rideplate shorter.... I like mine shorter with a D cut as well.

technique looks pretty good. once underwater and you fell the water rush over you (just before you slow down to much) blip the throttle and it will get you out from under the deeper subs and back on your feet. for the 1/2 half of the trick.

...and GET BILGE PUMPS!!!! NAO!!!!

I'm getting on the bilge pumps too this winter... I swear! I'm currently just riding around a bit between each attempt to let the syphon drain work a little. I'll try blipping the throttle next time I'm under.

Jawbreaker, I'm definitely flush and d-cutting the ride plate soon. I'll report back on how it turns out. Once I get footholds and don't have to focus on keeping my legs tight against the gunwales, I'll be more ballsy and try to get deeper.

Thanks for the compliments, any more comments or suggestions are appreciated!

Front foot forward will put you in straight up and down if ya want. Suicide sub.

I use my front foot strap.

I'd try one with surf stance, but it's really hard to use my feet to pull up on the gunwales if my feet aren't level... I get twisted a little and generally fall off.

my 2 cents- one thing that works for me is: i pre-hop, then bend my knees to let the back of the ski come up while leaning over the hp to push the nose in. once i pre-hopped and pushed too much that i went straight over the front with the pole fully extended. the later pics look like you were def. getting the hang of it. practice makes perfect.

just a tip: you might want to wear a pro-tec helmet for a bit till you are comfortable. you can repair the ski, but you only get one noggin. good luck!

Yeah, I'm in the market for a helmet right now... I've come close to wanging my head a few times. Unfortunately my head is huge so I gotta order it.

3 days is all it takes.

1.rip old turf, glue footholds drink some beer

2. reinforce tray and footholds some more beer

3.new turf, don't drink as much as the other days you going to ride next day

I'm not yet a master of the turf, I'm doing research. With some luck I'll get help from local guys with way more experience than I have this winter.

For turf..... wear some gloves and use a heat gun (turf will get too hot to handle) Let the contact cement dry on both surfaces before sticking it on.

five0addict, I started riding about 2 months ago... trust me I couldn't do this my first day :p

Jawbreaker, that's what I've read. I'm a little shaky about the glassing mostly, because the only experience I've had with it was a fairing repair on my race bike, and I don't want to eff up a brand new ski.

If you are definitely not turfing till winter and want a little more security and want to be able to lift the ass end easier without having to apply so much pressure with the sides of your feet, get some lifters from HydroTurf and slap them on. I used them on my Kawi and it helped a ton. I put mine in angled down toward my toes, not parallel to the tray, and it gave me better leverage.

You are doing great though, already!

like sxipro stated lifters will help and i did the same as him and angled them.

looking good once you get lifters you will be going straight in.

get a bilge pump and switch. it only takes about 30 mins to install and it is cheap insurance. you don't want to sink your new ski trust me. i sank my old ski and it sucks to have to get it going again.
