So I am picking up my new 96 roundie with a 701, footholds, short pull, shaved hull, sponsons, and a couple other goodies for 2k tonight or Saturday. My only worry from the pics it the bottom of the hull. Do you think it is just paint or will I have to reseal it?

they used to drag new race skis around behind the truck on the pavement to scratch up the bottom...the more scratches the better they handle..

Good deal, but you have 61x cases in there which is not stock. Just wanted to make you aware.
How do you know that? From the pic? I know its easy to tell in person, but what are you looking at in the pic that tells you?

make sure the top half of the case and cylinders are 61x and not 6M6
61x = 701, 6M6 = 650

If it turns out to be a mere 650 with protec head, internal fuel fill mod, footholds, tubbies, shortened pole, just back out of the deal and give me his name and number. I will have a few words with the guy myself.

I was actually just about to start a thread to ask that question.
It is a 96 RN that he said he put a 94 701 into. When I go to look at it, how do I tell for sure that it is a 701 and not a 650 just by looking at it

It's on top of the intake manifold.
Also, the cylinder will be stamped 6M6 for a 650 and 61X for a 701
