My MSD dual digital TL questions thread.

Anyone know how to test the single tower coils? resistance test specs?

Thanks in advance!

I decided to change the title of this thread because I'm sure I'll have a million questions.

Thanks to all who reply!:hail:

Eh...try them out in the ignition?

Do you suspect they are bad?

This testing won't be complete untill you mount them run motor and shoot some salt water spray (mix up some seasalt from gr.store) on them to see if the casings leak and ground out spark!

Really? Those casings leak or have cracks in them from brand new huh?
Interesting.. I'll do that!
i just got this dual digital set up and have been a OEM/Enhancer/alum charging flywheel boy forever and dont know squat about the MSD total loss. If i rode surf mostly, I would still be using the enhancer/alum flywheel.
Thanks for the advice Chuck! Well appreciated.

Both, I think. :haha:

It works fine, it just needed the crack fixed. I am not actively using it, but it's a spare.

I need a new starter solenoid. The way my board is set up now is to use a YAM oem solenoid. The guy mounted a SS OEM fuel filter holder and then put the OEM rubber piece that holds the OEM solenoid, then zip tied it, but there is no soleniod that came with it.
I'd like to come up with something better than this as the OEM solenoid is meant to be in a E-box.
So what are you all using? and which is the best and what is the cheapest, most waterproof ones you have found?

Thanks in advance!
Crappy pic below of what is there now:

I have been using an OEM Yamaha solenoid for over 18 months now without single problem.
Any marine 12V starter relay that can handle the current will work.

Man your fast!
Do you have it covered in 5200 to keep it waterproof?
Or is it just out sitting there? It would be easy for me to put another OEM back in there and call it a day, thats for sure.

Ya, now that you mention it, they can still get super-ugly corroded in the OEM e-box and still work well. So they must be sealed decent. Isnt that a Mitsubishi part, if i remember correctly?
Thanks for the tip Matt. I'm sure I'll need plenty more on this thread!
