Sweet thanks, I figure Ide smooth out that ugly bond line for cosmetic reasons. I got my pump fitted in and think I ground out to much. I have a ton of pics Ill get up soon. Thanks.

Leveling the pump now, whats the right way? I started out with a good base grinding down the front and raising the rear an 1/8" but by the time I glassed the final layer its all messed up. Any ideas?

I wouldn't just go for level, more important (to me) is the actual pump/shaft alignment to give you a smoother running pump and durability in the splines.

Well it seems like im going one step forward and two back... Oh well its a good learning experience. For some reason the resin didnt bond worth a dang so Im going to grind it down to the fiber glass and try it again.

I scrape all that green goo and foam out of that area and fill it with glass or epoxy with 404 filler. You want the front of the pump shoe to be 1/8" protruding below the surface of the hull. At the rear of the pump, it should be 3-1/2" to 3-5/8" when measuring from the very tip of the stock 650 pump cone to the surfce of the stock FX pump cavity just below it. Search my original pump thread, I think I have pics there for ref. These measurements will establish the correct driveline angles. When you get it really close, you can mix up some resin (epoxy or poly) and wet the area and then cover with a piece of wax paper and set the pump in place and veriify you r meaurements...then let it setup. You'll end up with perfect mounts with no sanding/grinding.

Thanks special, I finally got the pump area finished and it turned out awesome. Using the wax paper on the final layer is a good trick.

That must be the other coupler that was attached to the small shaft?! If so im in need of that because it went into the garbage... dang.

Also, the two couplers im using are the drive shaft coupler and the one thats already in the crank? Is there a difference between a Yamaha drive coupler vs an FX-1 coupler?

Your original FX couplers would work fine. I understand you ditched the old driveshaft side coupler, but any Yamaha 3 finger driveshaft coupler will work, or better yet, get a set of nice billet couplers from Carl at Cold Fusion.

Cool, got them orderd. The drive shaft doesnt look right, Its only makes up about 1/4 of the splines and wobbles is this normal?
