Damn right! First time riding surf and first time competing! The X is full of riders who have been riding for years, and have never had the guts to compete.

ya know, i was wondering what you two were doing on the other side of the pier...
i think new blood is what will help push this sport...younger riders and competitors...i really watched brandon mcmillian race for the first time last weekend...this kid looks like a mini-mac killen the course and he is what? 10?
race...freestyle...freeride...just get out there and try...take a trip...ride with other riders...spread the word...

WORD! You haven't experienced it all until you've entered a competition. Freerides are awesome, but they just dont compare to a good race event. I think every rider should experience lining up in front of the rubber band of a closed course, and feel the rush of trying to get to that first buoy in front. Freestyle even more! You're the only guy on the water, with 2 minutes to pull your best chit. Not many riders have the nads to take on that pressure. Once you do your hooked though!
