SX/SXi/SXi Pro My first jetski project. 16 year olds 750sx

so i went to pick up this jet ski today that i made made a deposit on earlier in the week. post i made about it--> and upon further inspection i got a real beat ski on my hands... there is a hole in the front part of the hull, and in the rear where the ride plate mounts has been patched poorly looks like the ride plate broke off... there is a major crack by the hood. the motor as poor compression, but runs just fine. it has 150 psi in one cylinder and 130-135 psi in the other. it has bad rings because i put some oil in the cylinders and they both went up to 160+ psi. so its gonna need a top end. and the handle pole has been poorly repaired (it broke at the base...).. i payed 500 bucks for this thing... i think i got riped off... uch: i will get better pics of the carnage tomorrow. i plan on fixing it.... but its gonna be alot of work...uppy_dog_eyes:

but the good news is we got my buddy's 650sx running today... needed a new stator. runs like a champ now!

I wouldn't say you got ripped off...there is a FP and westcoast head in there plus most likely a SS impeller. Thos items alone will pretty much get all your money back.

looks like where they "repaired" the rear by the rideplate, at one time someone installed a "pump-dump" scupper and prolly just installed it too low( made it weak where the ride plate mounts)

Ive seen hoods on craigslist and Ebay for 80 bucks (if it is damaged beyond repair)

Just rebuilt mine- 279 plus shipping for a complete Weisco Top end kit.

Perfect time to swap out the handle pole with a shorter one (RN sj pole)

and while ur repairin the fiberglass its the perfect time to just keep cutting and put in some footholds. lol

All-in-All, it shouldnt be too bad to repair/replace everything., a little fiberglass here, a little hydroturf there, and it will be good as new! (and like JetX said, with the FP pipe and head, ur already ahead of the game)

500 bucks is a steal. pipe is 400-500 depending on how bad someone wants it and its a high wanted item. motor stock is at least 500. i have parted a few skis and you can be surprised on what little thinks you can sell. sold a cracked stock handle pole for like 65.
