My amature class legal freestyle superjet build.

Hey guys,

For those of you that I've meet over these last few years riding and PM'ing on the X who have been asking me all winter "get a superjet yet"? ... well, the answer is YES! Yeeeehaaa!!! I have been selling out my stock of kawi 750 parts, motors, and skis all winter, building a cash fund to put towards "1" new yamaha, with the exception of my black 750 and my girlfriend's 650, I'm almost out. Anyway, my superjet project has officially been started and I will have pics of the new parts and mods as we go. I have read builds threads like this in the past and I figured it would be fun to do one myself. For those of you who had the privilege to make it to Daytona this year, you mabye got a chance to see my SJ in person, even before me. It was strapped on top of Mark Erickson Fourunner all weekend. I purchased the hull from Wamilton in early January and Mark stopped at Wammers for me and picked it up friday before Daytona. It's now back up in the cold north getting ready for spring. I met Mark at the Eric Malone freestyle clinic this September and spent the weekend at his house in October hanging out and learning tricks at the shop with Ant Burgess. After riding some SJ's at the clinic and FSF, and especially after riding Ants white boat at the shop,(my armpits hurt for a week) the term "superjet" has been the focus of my preocupation for months now! So anyway, Mark is finishing up full carbon reinforcement by next week. The 24/7 sr-1 carbon hood, sr-1 carbon handpole, and nose piece are built, 24/7 footholds, scupper, and chin pad are in there as well. Getting the motor parts together now and hopefully starting the engine build in the next few weeks. Im going 8mm stroker, Lamey PV cylinders, Total loss, and Full Spectrums. 792cc. Our goal is to build a completely amature legal ski that will be comparable to a lightweight ski as a completed craft. My pole is weighing in at 5lbs and the the visual carbon hood at 3.5lbs. and at 3.5lbs hes says i wont break it, and im hard on equipment. he called me today while he was jumping up and down on a hood. Light, strong and powerfull is our goal! I live in Ohio and am about 6-7 hours from New Jersey, so my superjet visiting rights are limited by the Mrs. But, "Sabo" and I will be heading up there in a few weeks to deliver his hull and motor, and will have more pics updates on my SJ project! Can't wait to get up there and help with the stuff I know how to do. Here are a few pics that I do have so far. I will keep more comin. Got lots of parts here, and more on order, the old Master Card is smokin in my wallet! its gonna be so worth it in the end! So for those of you who asked, here's the start of my Superjet, and for those who didn't, Hi, my name is Kenny, I ride at Lake Milton Ohio, and I got a new superjet!!!! here she is.

Looks like a fun build. Can't wait for more pics along the way.

carbon hood at 3.5lbs. and at 3.5lbs hes says i wont break it, and im hard on equipment.
I find it hard to believe that such a hood will not break...even in flatwater. My hood is thin at 13lbs and can see doing a 8/9lbs hood, but 3.5lbs is crazy thin and will be prone to lots of flexing.

Keep the pix comin'

Edited: Thats a very light hood, and handle pole. Cant wait to see how it holds up!

Why didnt Chris Maros ever build stuff that light when he owned 24/7?

Wish I had that motor..... I bet it will have awsome power as you are making it closer to a square bore and stroke.

he offered me a 5.5lb hood like pat bogarts as well. the 5.5 is the surf hood, and the 3.5 is the flatwater. i asked pat about it and he says that his hood is real strong... marks says i wont break it. and hes standing behind it... so im along for the ride!

I want pics of the hood on a scale...... and standing on it as well. 3.5lbs is paper thin.

ill see what i can do, ill call him tomorrow. i live about 6 hrs from his shop, so ill see if he will take some pics of that, and email them for me. im sure he will... he offered me other hoods at different weights made of different material at different prices. i liked what i was hearing with the carbon hood. plus the visual carbon looks sweet!

did chris maros use carbon? or just glass? i dont know i am kinda new to this sport. from what i gather, the material is what makes this stuff light. thats why marks using an aerospace carbon and not fiberglass. once again i dont know. i just ride em.

i cant wait!!!! now all i got to do is learn how to ride it!

I have seen you ride man and you have the brass to do anything. You are definatly a guy to watch. Can't wait to see what you can do with some power :woot: That backflip attempt at the Malone clinic was nice!

I do too. mark said at daytona he still hasn't ridden one yet. I offered mine but he didn't take me up on it.

Hey Tim you wouldn't happen to know the weights of the fiberglass hood conversion vs the carbon fiber one would ya? How much weight does the steering add to that?
