300/440/550 My 440 to 550 build. and 550 motor built to race specs and tons of aftermarket...

im new to jetskis. started last year. but have build alot of snowmobiles, dirtbikes, cars, etc, in the past. so this is my second jet ski build. (1st was a complete rebuild of a wet jet) so i always wanted a stand up jet ski and finaly got a 440 stock except a mariner water box. in like 4 months i inquired 4 other jetskis (X2, tigershark 770, wet jet 428, and wet jet 432) but the 440 has been my favorite. so 1 day i found a craigslist add for 440/550 parts and basicaly bought every part the guy had and decided to build a 550 motor and buy every after market part 4 it. engine is boerd 1mm over. i ported it to a common normal race specs. and didnt cut any corners. well heres some pics im almost done with this project but probaly have alot more problems to run into....

I would ditch that bn 44 carb. they work ok but an sbn 44 is better and one off a stock 61x superjet seems to be jetted well for a modded 550 and you will just need to find or make a spacer for your intake and it will bolt right on. that supertrapp water box you have sells for a good price on ebay. The blue part on them can crack and im sure finding a replacement would be hard.

whats a normal price the sbn carbs go 4. i might have to start looking. and the supertrapp i was thinking of putting on my x2. but might be willing to trade it for a sbn carb if the prices r around the same

I have seen the supertrapps as high 350 for mint condition ones. I would say yours is worth at least 150 and a brand new sbn is only about 200. I doubt someone will trade for it tho. You want to find a sbn 44 that came off a older superjet with 61x cases, and the jetting seems to work well for me at least. I believe its 113.5 pilot, 135 main, 1.5 N/S and a 65 gram spring. You will also need to make or buy the JRE intake spacer that is sold on ebay, because the fuel pump on the sbn will hit the head. Then ditch your fuel selector and just run a send and return right from the tank.

nice! very good info. id really like 2 trade somone the supertrapp for a SBN carb. i think its a fair deal. the supertrapp is perfect with no cracks in the boot or anything. i even have the oniginal instruction! =)
