MXKris's Superjet Foothold Install

Well... started on the foothold install today. All i got done was pulling off all the mat/padding/glue, and man what a PITA. I also got it all scuffed up and sanded with low grit paper so it isn't smooth and now i am ready to start cutting here shortly, and getting this project really rolling. I plan on having it all ready to go when i go out for the first time since my arm destruction. I'll put pics up in the morning after the doc appointment. Well underway though!! :Banane09:

Few questions:
1) Can i just use jb weld to glue in the holds? I read that someone once used contact cement as well, i'm not sure though. I am gonna rivet them in and just glass over the rivets if it makes any difference.
2) Do you have to pour foam in after you cut it out if you make it fit snugly and not cut out more than required?

1. you cannot use JB Weld to hold the footholds. Use 5200, Urethane Adheasive (PL, Loctite) or west systems epoxy with 404 adh additive.

2. best to foam after your footholds are installed, and then glass over the hole you drilled.

3. Glass over the seams of the footholds.

instead of dicking around with rivets, I'd just buy a bunch of countersunk 1/2" SS screws.... lay down a thick layer of epoxy and whatever filler you choose, and then screw em in, and glass over before the epoxy that is oozing out everywhere has a chance to set up.

Ok guys... here is my progress. And i would like to get the cut outs out, and defoamed, pretty much get it ready to be glued and glassed in. I have a few questions for you foothold experts.

The templete for the REVs don't fit on the gun whale so do you just wrap the top of it over the top like in my picture? And also, it feels like they are in the more comfortable spot being at the farthest back picture (2)... but the templete goes all over the top corner. So do i just put the templete down, and cut out where the templete is? Also, what you guys think about that placement? Thanks! Sooner i get a reply the sooner i can get under the knife/dremel!

I mounted my Revs 11.5 inches from the front of the tray. I measured from the very front of the cutout to the front of the tray. Be prepared to completely de-foam the right side of the ski so that you can bend the exhaust pipe to fit the REV foot holds.

I measured nine million times then i just went for it. i cut out the basic shape first, then i trimmed into the upper deck in small amount until the ankle cutout fit perfect. The first hold took me about an hour to get in right, then the second was a breeze. That exhaust pipe is going to screw you though.....

I just cut the toe out of the hold... i will rebuild it around the tube instead of dealing with bending and stuff.

Questions:

1) I got some milled fiberglass to mix in to strengthen the putty up to glue them in, is this the proper way? Like to use milled fiber, or do i just use the resin and hardener?

2) I got the Fiberglass sheets what everyone said to get (i think), and i just thought it would look a little different than this, is this the correct stuff?

THANKS ALOT!

I'm FINISHED!!!! :headbang::headbang::headbang::headbang: Its not the best turf job, but i still think its not to bad for my first wack! My first time doing holds as well.
