Super Jet MSD Misfire?

Earlier this season when I was wrapping up my winter build on my '04 Superjet, I installed a used MSD enhancer that I had picked up from a user here on the X. (maybe related, I also installed a used ADA head with 37cc domes for the first time).

Anyhow, once installed, I was getting a significant amount of "pudding" or what sounds to me like misfiring, it is a constant rate, and goes up and down with the RPM range, being fairly more noticeable through low to mid range RPM ranges, and seemingly disappears when I am running more than half open throttle. Brand new spark plugs this season from the get-go.

I have not been running any dielectric grease in my ignition , but read it might help out with AM ignition systems like this.

Another thing I am worried about after trying to do some research on is it that this is a death sign to the MSD Enhancer, meaning its lifespan is almost up.

Any thoughts on what this could be?

MSD enhancers usually start back firing as your starting the ski that's a common sign there going bad. Remove the plugs and connect the wires to the plugs, ground them on the head and turn the motor over to see if the spark is intermittent. If the spark comes and goes it may be the MSD or the start stop switch failing. Also remove your spark plug boots and inspect the coil wires sometimes the wire inside the coil wires breaks and causes a miss. You will need to re crimp your wire ends back on but its worth checking.

My recent intermittent spark was caused by a bad stator. I changed my MSD first and it still did it...then changed my stator and fired up strong!

Cool. Thanks, I'll give the easier checks a try first, then might move to the stator if nothing improves. Does it make sense that I never would have experienced misfiring before adding the Enhancer? Does the stock stator just not have the guts to run an AM brain?

That's exactly the problem. You already had a weak stator. The MSD amplifies it. The stock CDI will run fine with a weak stator but the MSD doesn't like it as much.
