Super Jet Msd flywheel starter ring

D-Roc

I forgot!
Has anyone replaced the starter ring on their flywheel? Just wondering the proper procedure for doing this. I flipped mine around and it came off after two rides. It still has the anodizing where ther ring sits so it did not spin off. No cracks in the ring either. We used heat to put it on and it fit tight but I did not peen it on. I never read anyone doing this and was a bit reluctant to try it but gave it a shot.

Droc, pm cookn he said there is a special lapping compund you should have used for the reinstall of the ring so it didnt remove material from the flywheel changing tolerance or something. I dont know a whole lot about it but he went to school to learn all that stuff.

Edit: he also said using heat wasnt the proper way or something too.

Ps. Sorry for starting your ski that day

My ring gear was spinning on the flywheel after one season and MSD replaced mine with a new unit. This one had 4 roll pins set between the ring gear and flywheel to keep it from slipping. This may not apply, but I though I would mention it.
