motor sunk

Hi,

I sunk my jet ski. The scupper fell out of the hull. It was sunk in salt water and under water for about an hour before it luckily washed into shore. The crank was brand new and only used for about 4 hours and now it is all rusted on the surface. I stripped the motor down and washed inside of motor out with metho about 10 hours after it sunk by the time i got the engine out and stripped but the crank now has rusted up on the surface in the last 6 days. I have attached a photo.

How should i fix the crank. I am guessing i gonna have to split the cases take the crank out. But once i do that i am still not sure how to fix crank surface. The motor aint turning over by hand any more even with engine lube in the piston cases. I have to use a lever to turn it over manually.

Help appreciated

You will have to split the cases and inspect.Take the crank out and take it to someone that has experience with them.May not be able to save it,but you don't want more issues down the road

It's not rotating because the bearings in the crank are rusted. You might be able to free it but the bearings are damage and will build alot more heat now, likely to let go very soon. Very risky to run especially with risking a rod going thru your billet cylinder. I know its not what you want to hear but you need that crank rebuilt or buy another crank.

Did the rubber on the scupper flap break and fall off?

Did like mentioned above and You gotta tear it down completely right away before it completely locks up. Also the cylinder walls are rusting, I did a dasa over the winter, tore it down, remove Pistons from rods, wrist pins rusting, and started cleaning the rust off the cylinder walls, kept walls wet with penetrating oil and washed in parts washer and honeed the cylinder 2 days later... Kept wet until reassembly. Needed crank rebuild and wrist pin bearings, new seals/orings....

Best bet is to fill your cases with your fuel from your gas can after you pump all the water out. Fill Completely. Then when get home, pull motor, split cases and give the crank a good bath in a parts washer or bucket with liquid wd40. Go ahead and start looking for a new crank.
