That's the video I was thinking of. It is impressive for sure. However, you see people doing the same stuff with sub 900cc twins. Why is that?
And now compare it to the videos of people riding 1200 twins against this 1200 triple.
And while the video does say "Superjet" that hull is significantly shorter than stock.

And remember when a 155 pump was way too big, because the champs werent using them. I think a Yamaha 65U could get within 20LBS of an average twin with light weight exhaust parts.

Well - the pro FS guys have been going towards bigger and bigger pumps for a few years now. I have not seen any of them compete on triples.

The pros make use of the best technology at hand. Biggest problem for most everyone else is the price. If the ski in the video was a shortened R/N, hes doing fairly well with the $4000 that he has in the whole package.

if your tryen to be cheap then yea, but puttin a heavy tripple in a carbon he already spent thousands on would be a sin. itd be like puttin thousands into a funny car an runnen some average non supercharged 350 motor you pulled outta an old camaro that runs off pump gas. if anything take the motor outta the square nose use it in the carbon an throw a tripple in the square nose an make it a sleeper

Lol big debate here wow I really wasn't expecting that. Thanks to all for the advise. Budget sits at about 3k at the moment. And shrinking every day. I was hoping to sell my sn next spring. To recoup some of the money I spent on this project. altho if I got to sacrifice the sn I will. Any advise on the gp800? Thanks again.

I forgot!
Anything we do to a twin can be done to a triple. Problem is size and performance exhaust availability. I don't think it to be the best motor to put a hull right now, but in time it could be something we see happening. it's easier to let someone else do all the r&d and then we can buy the parts from them. The japs probably have some 1750cc motor already hooked up to a jetboat pump on a wakeboard hull. Lol.
