Freestyle Motor sugestions

Just bought a carbon hull. currently riding a sn 701. Its really a nice sn kinda don't wanna tear it apart but I will if I have to. Was wondering what sugestions you guys have for a motor set up. Debating doing a gp1200r set up. Would like to fly oh so high thanks guys

GP1200r motor not gonna fit. Plus it would be heavy.

You just need a good ported motor package. either std bore or a big bore setup from an experienced shop.

1. the "R" motor is a slant motor. Takes up a whole lot of space. a non PV 1200 could be made to run, but not the best thing. If you want to race, then go for it. for playing....... stick with a twin, it will be lighter and a whole lot less headache.

People put Kawi 1100 triples and Yamaha 1100 and 1200 non-R triples in Superjets. But those are heavy raceboats, not really freestyle oriented.

Yup... I dont' think I've ever seen someone try to but a triple in a freestyle boat... Theres a reason for that too.

Ported Twin Cylinder for sure. Get your 701 ported. See how you like it and take it from there. A big factor is this is also your budget.

Also, unless you have another "parts" boat. Your going to have to tear down your SN for all those things like motor mounts, start/stop switch, steering cables, throttle cable, midshaft, pump and the plethora of other things.

If a heavy hull with a big twin can do what you want then a lighter hull with a tripple will do the same thing. The industry makes its living selling custom engines, hulls, and accessories. Nobody in the business wants to see a junkyard tripple doing a backflip.

Wrong weight placement and power in the wrong spot. Go ahead and build us a triple FS boat, Mr. Know-It-All.

(Yes, there is at least one video of a guy doing so, but it looks awkward and labored.)

Tripples are cheap power, just find one that will fit and anchor it well. OR spend mega bucks on a custom twin. Freestyle is totally subjective and people are just trying to impress each other. Its not only what you do but how you do it.

I guess I'm a little confused why the pro (or amateur) freestyle guys haven't been using triples for the past decade. It's a cheap conversion and relatively easy to do.
So, what's the reason?

I have a strong suspicion that it's not some Illuminati of Freestyle motors conspiracy to keep cheap power away from the serfs.

IMO just pop the 701 into the carbon ski. Its going to be insane and you will most likely not want to ride the sn anymore

As matt E said... there IS a reason not ONE freestyle championship has been won on a 3 cylinder...
And also a reason that DASA and similar companies sell hundreds of thousands of dollars a year of 2(TWO) cylinder performance engines..

If a 3 cylinder did the same job.. i thnk we all would be running them
