motor questions

help...... iv put my new cylinder on and went out yesterday and the pisser wasnt pissing very much water after about 5 min of riding. went through all the lines and they weren't blocked. did a compression check and found it was low. took the head off and found blown head gasked.(brand new by the way). what i found was the sleeves are alittle lower then the cylinder deck. with a straight edge it wasnt flat eather. if i re-deck the cylinder will it bump up the compression to a unsafe amount. ii think roughly .005. what would be the max i could get away with if need be.

Need more info...Did you use a OEM gasket? Is this a Yamaha or a Kawasaki? What engine? What has been done to the engine? What bore is it? What cc is the head your running? We could help if you were a little more descriptive and even a picture or 2, then you would really get responses!

Generally, .005 off the top of the cylinder won't do much in the compression ratio department unless your already running very high compression ratio now. Squish clearance is more of a concern.

since it was in the superjet forum i figured people would know it was a superjet. i forgot to mention it was a 01 701. cyclinder is stock. i sent the head off to group k. they milled it and sent me the half girddle. put a protec modified cdi box in. has b pipe. come to find out the cylinder needed .009 of the top. well its all done now and picked it up tonight. my other question is dual cooling since group k put another fitting in the head. not sure how to route the lines. thanks. if i need to add more please let me know.
p.s the bor is one over and yes im running a factory head and base gasket.

O.K., I forgot to look to see what forum page I was in... as I bounce all around and sometimes use the new post feature.
.009 should be ok off the cylinder as you are using a stock OEM sticky gasket, they are .052 crushed thickness, so even if the head had no squish lip and .010 off the cylinder I think you will be ok somewhere around .042-.048 I'm guessing.
Up the torque on the headbolts to 24 ft-lbs final torque. (16 first time)
Do a search for dual cooling and there should be lots of posts to route the lines.
