motor mounts twisting, need help.

im tryn to pull a motor and the motormounts are twisting. do i need to air ratchet them. i can barely hand turn them and when they do start turning the mounts and shims are twisting. any thoughts?

threads are probably corroded. try spraying it down w/ some pb blaster and letting it soak. otherwise, youll probably end up breaking that motormount and having to buy a new one.

or just unbolt the mounts from the hull, each mount has 2 bolts to the hull, just undo them, then after you pull the motor, you can unbolt the bedplates & deal with them in a vice or something after a lot of Zepreserve or PB Blaster

I just unbolt the mounts from the hull when that happens.

OEM mounts have flats on the sides. See if you can get a wrench on the flats and if that is enough to hold them.

You need to buy a new set of mounts. Once the motor is out of the hull you can get vice grips on them. Usually that will destroy enough of the rubber that you can grab the metal insert with the vice grips. It is a PITA, but once you take the motor out (as mentioned above) it can be done.
