Could i pull my engine with the motor mounts still connected to the bed plates and not have to worry about aligning it again or will I still need to align it after I put it back in?

I would leave the mounts in the hull... it's not that difficult to align it close enough...the motor moves and vibrates every direction anyways. I use about 1/4 inch gap also...you can use the straight edge of a motor shim to help align the couplers...

You usually have to tilt the engine a little more than normal to get it out of most hulls when doing it that way but it's very possible. Depends on how difficult it is to align it. 8 bolts to remove the mounts and 4 to remove the engine. It usually goes back together very close anyway if you remember which shims went where. My hull is a pure SOB to realign but I never touch the motor mounts. Additionally, a stripped motor mount is easier to replace than a stripped hull insert.
