More flatwater backflip attempts - still can't get it

My home away from home.
I'm uncomfortable without a helmet on. Way more confidence with it on and less knots on my skull is just an added bonus. I've been knocked out cold 8 times from previous sports and I'm trying like he77 to not get anymore.

Bumping this thread rather than starting a new one...

I've been starting to try some flat water backies, and been getting pretty beat up in the process... When I land upside down the pole just seems to kill me. Last night my handle bars just smoked me in the top of my knee which then twisted/ hyper extended my knee because my foot was locked in the hold. What am I doing wrong here?? Any advice is appreciated.

Hummm...not sure what you're doing wrong. I've pancaked countless flatwater attempts and have yet to get hurt as a result. Perhaps you have the pole too low?
Remember:
As you approach the wake, slow down and squat down
Hit the wake, pull trim and pin the throttle. You should be squatting now
After the pump is out of the water, stand up, kick your legs out, arch your back, pull the pole back towards your chest
Throw your head back and spot your landing.

I don't usually have a problem throwing my head back (don't look at my avatar now, lol).
I do have a big problem doing all of those things in each attempt. Usually I can only get two or three right.

You can also stay low in the try, if you watch lee stone he stays low in the tray...

Never been hurt by the pole, even going for the double & pancaking from 10-15ft... Not sure why the pole would be a problem
