Have you played with more prop? You have enough power to pull a steeper one, which would hit harder and give you more speed. Your boat may "feel" strong, but even at full rpm that prop only moves so much water. A steeper one would accelerate the ski quicker, although seat of the pants may not feel as impressive.....................
The SS865s are pulling MUCH steeper props than that. I am working through the same issues. I just built a 8mm dasa pv motor, and am running a 14-19, in a 145 mag. It feels too steep to me, but the actual pop and height I get of waves is significantly higher than when I had my 5 mil w/13-17 that "felt" like it revved quicker. Hard to explain.................
You need the boat to pull from idle until you leave the water, and a small prop, although it feels good, falls off quickly. Just my opinion from my testing........I could be way off, but its a thought. With that much power and a light ski, that thing should come around.
