Just looking for some advice or opinions on this because I really can't see anything wrong with the machine, its just running poorly and I'm stumped.
last winter I rebuilt the top end, had the carb rebuilt by Rich at WFO, and put in a stock waterbox. It ran better than ever all summer, topped out right around 40ish. sometime a couple weeks ago I filled the gas tank a little to much I guess and after it sat for 3 days I come back and the engine is flooded with fuel almost up the the carburetor. I emptied the engine using that quick release drain plug on the bottom that I had thought was useless until now.
once it was empty I spent a couple minutes trying to start it, it would usually fire right away but it was giving me some trouble. I finally got it running (poorly) and a black liquid was coming out the exhaust. I ran it on the trailer with the hose hooked up for about 5 minutes until I had flushed out all the black liquid.
Got the ski in the water and it ran fine for about a half hour until it started to slow down to about 15-20 mph at full throttle. Barely keeping it running I limped home. Once on the dock it seemed to run fine so I left it. Took it out a few days later and it ran fine at first but after a while it started to run very weak again, this time until the point where I needed to be towed in. At the dock it started up and ran fine on the hose.
I haven't put it in the water since. Compression is good, carb is freshly rebuilt, has spark in both cylinders, fuel is fresh. I'm really stumped on this one
