The single vs dual carb threads are so full of info on both sides my head is going to explode trying to figure out which way I want to go. The big bore carbs you see floating around seem to be based on existing carbs (mikuni 44s or 46s?) is there a company that can take my SBN 46 bore it, modify the circuits or whatever they do and make me a nice 48 or 49 for a freeride setup for under the $400-$600 it cost to buy one new? Also when going this route it seems the ATP manifold is the way to go, is this correct?

There is a lot to be done when modding a carb. I've helped Ed Brazina when he makes his carbs (Full Spectrum) and after several hours I realized how much was involved and thought "damnn bro, no wonder these things cost what they do". The Mikuni carb is a well designed and bult carb. It gives a liniear fuel delivery they just dont make them big enough. If you understood what goes into making a carb work, then you'ld understand why they cost. Its just that we get used to seeing so many carbs that we don't think they should cost that much.

Having Jetworks make it into a 48mm blackjack sounds like a pretty good setup with a good price (over new 48mm carbs). They seem to have good reviews, Im still going to shop around a bit, I have emails out to a couple other companies and I am interested to hear what they have to say.

52mm? Where did they measure the carb at to get that number. I've seen bored mikunis and at 49 you better be lined up straight down the throat or its a wasted body. Do you know where mikuni and kiehn measure there carbs at?

I talked to Steve at the watercraft factory and he is also able to modify my 46 to a 48.

He is doing the reverse bore, the bottom of the carb is straight bored to 48mm while the top stays at 44/46mm, this is a mod that TLR Started doing.

The Head Enterprises carb would be a good upgrade.

Is that reverse bore upgrade good modification? Im gonna use single carb in mine 760cc Superjet. Or should i buy riva powerbomb or similar. I have 44 sbn:s that i can modify by myself.

Now this may seem silly but since 38s are so "easy" to find... is it worth it to have them taper bored and modified or such?

I plan to have mine straight bored above the throttle plate to remove the bore obstruction, but is it worth it to go further than this point?
