mod my SN or buy a RN for lake

ok so I have a 1990 SN that I've been riding at the lake for a couple years now. I've swapped in a bone stock 62T and have a worx intake grate, besides that everything is bone stock.

We have a couple 2009 SuperJets at the lake and they are a much smoother ride than my SN. I am not constantly fighting waves (lake waves) when I'm riding the '09 compared to my SN.

my question is this: by adding tubbies to my SN, would that bring the smooth riding on-par to the '09? or should I stop modding my SN and just buy a '08+?

if it's possible to make my SN ride like the '09 and not consitally fighting waves when I just want to cruise around, I'd rather do that. I know the bottom hulls are different but I thought the only difference was tubbies and the pump relocated a little further back?

The old rn and square have the same deck but pole positions are different which can affect handling. The newer rn has the same top deck but sponsons, narrower back and setback pump. I didnt spend a lot of time ln a newer rn like i have mine but it did corner better but im not sure its worth to me how much extra those hulls cost since im not racing competively.

I think that investing a bunch of money in the square is a waste if you can afford a rn. I cant say if you would benefit more rom the newer hull over the older one, especially because the newer ones sell for so much more. What i do kmow is that if you sell your square and buy something already setup the wsy you want you can save money over buying each part, plus squares dont sell for a lot more with a bunch of parts compared to what youd get selling it as is. I put every part on my stock 04 rn and in the long run it cost me a lot. It comes down to if you can spend the moeny all at omce or if you hsve to just buy a part here and there even if it costs more, and more importantly if you can find a nice condition ski. You dont want a piece of junk with a bunch of worn out parts.

I went from a '90 SN to an '08 this year and I can say it was the right decision. There are some aspects of the SN handling I miss but I really like how my '08 handles overall. It is a much better fit to my riding style which is chasing boats around and a lot of cruising around the lake. If you feel more comfortable on the '09 then I would say go for it.
