Minimum cloth weight for reinforcement?

Learning rolls and wanted to reinforce. Is 8oz enough enforcement for flat water riding after filling the bondline? 8oz carbon or glass?

If 8oz is not enough what would you recommend for minimum reinforcement.

I used a single layer of 12 oz biax (glass), and i think thats about as thin as i'd want to go for a reinforce job. If you want to stick with 8oz, just do two layers.

just do 1 of 1708 and call it a day... then you will have no worries

I used 1 layer of 10 oz. for flat water 8 oz. would also work just depends on your riding style.

If you have 8oz cloth you should use at least 2 layers. maybe 3-4 layers in the bondline areas.

1708 is made up of 17 ounces of Strands ,stitched at a 45 degree angle, and 8 ounces of chopped strand mat backing. for a total of 25 ounces per square yard

Use 2 layers of 6oz or 8oz s glass. soo easy to work with. I will never use biax again.

Think I'm going with 6oz S Glass Plain Weave with 5.5oz Carbon/Kevlar Twill

sounds like a good plan to me. shouldn't add too much weight and will add the strength you want.

MAke sure you have some really good shears for the Carbon/Kevlar. Kevlar will not cut with reg scissors.
