Milling service needed on manifold.

I have a new Riva manifold that I wanted to do some modifications to just try out some different things. I was wondering if anyone has a milling machine and could do some work for me. I basically want to recess the reed cages 5mm or 6mm in the manifold. I think this will give me the benifit of running a reed spacer (small one) w/o achually running a spacer plate. How much do you think it would cost?

I have a spacer just like that but thought it would be a cool mod anyway. If it is over $100 I probably won't do it but I figured I would test the waters anyway. I was also thinking about removing the mounting studs and shaving 4-5mm off the mounting surface. That would drop the length of the intake runners by about 10mm-12mm total. Together this mod would allow me to recess the reed cages for slightly better flow to the transfer ports (plus possibly longer reed petal life) and decrease the angle from the throat of the carb to the reed cage assembly........all at the same time.......can I get a BRAP!!!

I can tell you for fact, it will work..................
I have traveled down that path before.........
So Has Ed Brazina.........
That is exactly what Full Spectrum / Boysene has done with their High Velosity system. Another added benifit they did was adapt a billet mounting plate for the carbs, that makes removal a breeze. They also eliminated the gaskets & replaced with o-rings!

Keep thinking, you are coming up with great ideas!

Here is what i was thinking of doing. The casting of the RIVA manifold is nice and thick allowing pleanty of room for this modification. It is also quite strong from what I can tell. Might be able to shave 7mm off the reed cage area, recessing it into the manifold and anouther 6-7mm off the carb mounting surface. This could take almost 14mm off the length of the intake runner and as you can see in the pic gives a nice shot from the throat to the reed cage assembly. I plan on running V-force 2's with this set up.

I've got a friend that works at a machine shop that could do that for you. He's made a turnplate and some other things for me. If it definitely works I'll get him to do that to my R&D intake.

edit: talked to him after work today. Said he could do it, but would rather just make me a reed spacer.
