Ok after much reading im am officially 100% confused. the problem is the midshaft and bearing housing. i realize the SN and the RN are different. Is it just the housing that is different or the length of the midshaft as well?
the problem is, i have a WCF topdeck conversion to slap together when i get home, and it has a xft bulkhead going in it. Now if its just the bearing housing thats different i assume i use a RN housing since its going on the new bulkhead? but if its a length difference then i will need to use a SN housing and shaft because the bottom deck is from a SN and so the motor mounts and everything will be the same as it?
also to further complicate matters i have ADA billet drive couplers and have heard that they only thread on to the RN midshaft? theres a difference in threads too!?
wtf.
help me out guys.

gotcha. just trying to figure out if i need the RN or SN bilge bracket. Ive got a few of the SN ones, but no duals. the sooner i figure this stuff out the longer i have to keep an eye open for a deal

The shafts are the same. It's just the bearing housings that are different. Us tightwads buy used bearings off of other Yamaha skis (almost anything with a 701 or bigger engine works) and then press in our old SN shaft.
