You boys have any idea how BEST to seperate the midshaft from the hull when stuck on with 5200? I have tried using a 1.5" chisel and being gentle to my babies hull, but it ain't workn'! I don't want to pry to hard on the coupler end. Waduya think?

Use a razor blade to remove as much of the 5200 as you can.
The use it to cut between the bulkhead and the housing.
There is a short gap on two locations on that bearing housing.
Get a screwdriver in there and twist.

Wow I didnt think 5200 ever dried. I have some on my ski that has been goey for going on 5 months, guess you just have to stick it somewhere where light and air and only water can get to it :(

What dumbass glues their midshaft in with 5200?

:nana::smlove2:
Yeah I heard that. I have seen outdrives on boat's torn off and the fiberglass came with the transom shield 5200 has it's place but you better not plan on ever taking it apart again.
Try to find/buy a thin putty knife and hammer it in between the bearing housing and the bulkhead I have had the best luck with this method.

He hasn't even rode it yet. He has upgrade fever. (Don't we all?) It's completely stripped, except for the midshaft. Tom21's footholds are going in and TONS of mods.

I need to do a build thread, but I was too lazy to get my camera out and take some pics. I've got the hull completely stripped except midshaft and started removing turf tonight. Mcdog's got me thinking about saving some pennies for a stroker, but I'd have to sell my SN first and I like the idea of a decent backup ski. Not sure, but I'll prolly keep it and just message this cylinder...TS port job for sure, maybe a bore. Depends on funding.

....5200 on a midshaft?!?! did you do that? LOL good luck!

nope. wasn't me. i just bought the ski a couple weeks ago and tore it down thursday. got it all apart except midshaft seperated from bulkhead. pump was a little tricky too. Lots of black silicone on pump shoe, intake and rideplate, but that was easy compared to midshaft.
