ok ive been riding a month now.. still working the turns but now got bigger balls to attempt jump and stuff.. im the only one that rides in my area with a standup. so i got no one to show me the ropes..

whats the proper mechanics as far as footwork go, say if i want to hop a wake.

i normally ride with left foot forward and right foot back. do i shift my weight ( ie move both feet to the back of the tray) and do a little jump to give some momentum right before the wake ? :arms:

when you jump, don't bend down and lean back like I see people do all the time... When you jump move your body forward to offset the steepness of the wake... Your bars should be at the waist. This will keep you in control while jumping and will allow you to make really large straight jumps if you want...

....and when you get ready, take a hand off

He just likes showing off that picture.. LOL It is good advise but some of us cant jump wakes unless we make them ourselves. (flatwater) Like I am the biggest boat on the water most days kinda flat water.

I would suggest having your feet int he rear of the tray pressed hard against the sides and play with the throttle. If you blip the throttle you should be able to get the ski to pop out of the water a little then just keep jumping with your body weight until you can get used to it. Then get the ski to land a little nose first and on the next jump pull up with your feet.

Blip the throttle..... Well put. That is one reason I enjoy my SJ so much more that the SXI Pro I had. If I want to get airborne with the SJ, I just squeeze the trigger, no wave necessary, no need to even be in the footholds. Instant bunnyhop....just add BRAP.
