Meat hook

I got a 2002 RN a few weeks ago. I finally got the chance to take it out Friday. I was meeting my buddy at the launch ramp. I was waiting for him and just figured I’d use the RN to tow the SN from the ramp to the beach. I threaded a nylon rope through the eye of the SN, and instead of being smart and hooking it to the tail of the RN I figured I’d just hold the rope in my hand, heck it was only 100 feet to the beach. I gassed it a little too hard and the rope just slipped right thru my hand. That is until it got to the large quick link in the end of the rope. I’ve always hated quick links, I don’t know why they have to make them so sharp. I felt the pain and looked down. The gate of the quick link was fully buried under the skin. I said "That's not good!" It entered my hand in the webbing of skin by my thumb. I could see the metal rod going about 1.5 inches towards my wrist. I guess I should’ve left it there, but the adrenalin was flowing so I just yanked it out. A nice chunk of flesh was stuck to the end of the gate. My blood clots well so it didn’t bleed too much. My friend arrived, and we got the skis loaded back on the trailer. A trip to the ER and 5 stitches later sealed the jagged hole. Now I gotta wait another 10 days before I can go in the water and try out my new RN, damn it.

I will be in Florida during the Pismo event, :-(

However my mom in law has a house in Nipomo so I'll be there pretty soon. :)

I went once before on my SN. And used to hit the waves on the east coast back in the early 90s. Can't wait to be rippin it up again in West Coast surf!
