Maximum number of turns?

What is the maximum number of turns out until it stops any effect?
I always heard 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 is max, but saw a thread that said to start 3 turns out???
Also, is it different for a Keihin versus a Mikuni?

Around 3 on a Mikuni, but it also depends on if you have fine or normal thread adjusters. Most oem carbs have fine thread adjusters and will go quite a bit further.

ideally you want them set about 1-1.25 out if properly jetted

Your tachometer readings will tell you when you are all the way out or you need to jet up or down.

I have had both 48 Novi's and currently 48 Riva Power Bombs and they both came 2 1/2 turns out on bottom and 2 on the top.

I always heard you can go to 3 but you once you pass 2 you should rejet anyway.
