Maxima Oil Question

I'm at 50:1. I'm sure 60:1 would be fine as well.

BTW, if you can drop $100 for oil at a time, www.rockymountainatv.com will sell a 6-pack of 64oz jugs of 927 for $101.34 with no shipping fees!

I find the jugs a little more convenient than a 5 gallon drum.

I have ran Sunoco Oil, Amsoil, Maxima, Penzoil Semi Sythetic ($10 a gallon), Shell, BP.

I haven't noticed any difference at all in the way my ski ran. The engine might last a little longer, but I usually do something stupid to blow it up anyway.

This is probably blasphemy but I hate the smell of 927. Bleh!

I've had good luck with Maxima super M. I alway break in a new motor with regular TC-W3 to seat the rings then switch to Super M after break in. IMO it reduces the rate of wear in the engine.

Everyone is only a sum total of their experiences :) You must have had someone step on your toe or something the first time you smelt 927 ;)

Anyone use Quicksilver full synthetic from Wallmart? I use it mainly because of convenience. I've been using it since last year and it seems to work pretty well.

I don't think there is an oil that I have not used, including the quicksilver.

My Ski is like Wax's ski, it will run on anything with the TCW3 rating.

I've been running 927 for years and love it! I've opened up the engine after a season of riding and am always amazed on how it leaves a nice protective coating on the cylinder walls and hardly never leaves carbon build up in the exhaust. It also is knowned to protect the engine from corrosion from condensation inside.

and the smell!! I'm addicted to it !!!

and it looks like it would go well on a stack of pancakes! lol

No one had talked about watercraft Dumontec, it is fairly popular around here and is also tcw3 rated. Its about $25 per gallon at the Cycle barn. I will be running it with my new 750 motor.

Um, :ponder: isn't that the rap on 927 (besides it being expensive), is that it doesn't protect against corrosion like a marine application oil would?

Ive heard that before, but in my experience ( fresh water only) it protects at least as well as any other oil that I have used.

we should run a test, grind a piece of steel, cut in half, put some different oils on the peices and subject them to a multiple week exposure test.

I guess we cant measure thermal visc. breakdown that way, but we could measure corrosion inhibition at least.

I am bringing this thread back up for one simple question....Whats the best oil that walmart carries that will work without worry in my FX1? Anything rated tcw3 will be fine is what I get out of this thread....Will this information be on the back of the oil jugs? Need some oil to brap tommarrow. This might be a stupid question because it has probably already been answered. I just wanna know the brand, name, ext. So that I can walk in and walk out, fast without scanning every jug for the tcw3 rating

WERD steve...been using it for 14 years..

Castor 927 is a unique blend of highly refined castor oil, a specially prepared synthetic and an additive system that reduces carbon and gum formation and provides excellent rust & corrosion protection. Castor 927 also contains an exclusive additive that keeps power valves cleaner and working properly. For all of us that wish to keep our air and water cleaner, Castor 927 is biodegradable. Castor 927 keeps on lubricating; where other lubricants turn to carbon or vaporize, and provides extra protection on cylinder walls, bearing journals and other critical areas at temperatures much higher than other lubricants.

but if you want Walmart then go with the Quicksilver synthetic galon jug..

Get the pennzoil syn blend or even the walmart tech oil will be fine if its a stock or limited boat. Theres many guys out there who have modded setups and run blends over full syns. I choose not to run synthetic anymore bc I go through too much oil as it is, and my ski doesn't run any different when comparing blends to full synthetic.

Heck, luke(icerocket) has over 400 hrs on his sxr by just using west marine oil at 40:1, and his machine is in tip top shape!!!!!!
