mat padding on rails

im thinking of putting the diamond plate looking padding on the side rails on a superjet, i know it looks cool but does it last? it has to look like crap after a few hard rides, whats the best glue ,i heard padding should be under the mat? any comments

No padding on the rails, just the turf.

Prep it well, sand the rails, clean the rails/turf with lacquer thinner (or your favorite solvent), 2 coats of contact cement on both allowing each coat to dry to the touch, then put the turf on and whack the heck out of it with a rubber mallet, then allow it to dry for at least 24 hours before getting it wet.

i did that exact install and mine hasnt really held up very well.

i did not use crazy glue on the edges though. i heard the crazy glue keeps the edges from grabbing the water and pulling up the turf.

also make sure you cut the turf at the bond line at a 45 degree angle to help prevent it peeling up

do it like Jett said. I'm on 3 seasons with mine and it's not showing any signs of pulling away. fill in the holes in the rail (used to screw the oem rail covers) with silicone or filler to keep water from pushing behind.
