I mentioned the "Volusia County" or Daytona rules to my nephew today, explaining how they had a jet ski "zone" and how it would benefit our area if we had a similar system.

I guess I'll consider bringing this scenario up at a Commission meeting and see how it goes over...:clown:

I know the guy who set it up in Daytona if you need legal help... He's a lawyer and long time racer...

SFL ,your blinded by your hatred of couches man .

Segregation will NEVER happen and this is the same mentality that's the reason PWC'S get banned all the time .All PWC'S are dangerous not just couches .

SU riders are more educated and aware and that's why we ride more respectfully but we still ride next to each other a few feet away which is still illegal

You need to say something to someone if they mess up .Explain the rules .
Do something positive

Obviously you do not know Charlie, he has many friends with couches, and rides with them all the time. He does not hate couches, he hates idiots that are compromising his riding spots by riding recklessly. Unfortunately, that is usually people on couches.

He is the first person to help someone at a lake when there is a problem and IF they are riding responsibly, and the first to call them a dumb******** to their face if they are riding dangerously.

If someone comes out to a lake, with a 700 pound machine, and threaten the life of myself or my family by riding in a dangerous/careless/reckless manner, and your damn straight I would call you a dumb ass to their face.

Probably right before I start kicking some ass. I don't give a shiet if it's considered negative or not.

I have been hit by some dickhead on an RXP trying to jump my wake, and if my daughter happened to be on the ski with me at the time, she possibly would not be here today.

So yeah, I would call them a dumbarse...

Although I did meet Charlie at the Daytona fest I really don't know him like you said but I see his comments about banning couches and he craps all over anyone with a couch and any mention of couches gets crapped on also so I naturally assume he hates couches/couchers.

I don't blame you one bit if people really are riding that close to you and endangering your kids but the idea of couchers obeying a no couch zone is laughable .Like you said they don't obey as it is and you think they will stay out of your zone

Why don't you and Charlie just go out and kick all couch arses then .I'm sure you could get a bunch more S FL riders to help you

hangtime, it sounds to me like youre being negative towards me and my idea of helping keep a safe ski lake. negativity toward a positive idea is exactly what youre accusing me of doing.

He is the first person to help someone at a lake when there is a problem and IF they are riding responsibly, and the first to call them a dumb*** to their face if they are riding dangerously.

Calling someone a dumb *** to their face is not doing something positive .

what about the being the first person to help someone? did you forget about that part? ive explained the rules countless times. its exhausting and frustrating.

maybe youre too blinded by your own negativety toward me to see any positive.:thinkerg:

This thread is deep!
If you want better management of the lake, find out what kind of guards they are using ( Red Cross, Ellis, Etc) call the association directly.
Im a lifeguard at a waterpark and I know the attitudes those kids have. They dont want to be there, so they dont enforce rules. Thats a huge part of the problem

Is the side lake closed or open?

yo adam!

the side canal will probably be closed for another 8-10 months is what the park management says.

theyre not using any lifeguards. well, ive seen 1 lifeguard there ever. in fact, shes the one that i was talking to when we came up with the idea of sectioning the lake off. she acually did go over and say something to the moron couchers.

the lifeguards are usually at the pool and never at the lake. you know theyre lifeguards cause theyre wearing a red shirt.

the only person at the lake is not a lifeguard, but a park employee. they wear those miami subs employee looking shirts..... usually somebody thats not old enough to buy beer yet and is listening to rap through headphones while playing games on his phone. all ive ever seen them do is:

collect money
unlock the chain
tell you its time to get out
lock the chain.

thats it

I think it'a good idea to make your lake safer man but your idea to segregate is where you lost me.
It won't work .

Someone from your camp or the other will cross the imaginary boundary and then it will be a free for all again .

Your best bet and you've covered this already is for law enforcement to get invloved.
record stuff that is dangerous and illegal and show it to the water cops .video tape the guy who was doing it and record his reg #'s .

Start a thread here for peeps to e-mail and complain and I'm sure peeps will help out

I recorded some dudes on sea doo's at my spot who were splashing people on shore and who actually hit someone and showed it to the water cops and they gave the guy a huge ticket and kicked him out for the day .

if it really bothers you that much you need to start somewhere man
but ban couches /couches and couchers suck is gonna get you nowhere

I think that the biggest problem is the lack of riding experience from the couche drivers ,just like a 16 year old just getting his or her driving license. Statistics shows that unexperienced drivers causes the majority of accidents. Most of these riders at Markam park are new to riding jet skis and are clueless on how to ride them.

I used to own a jet ski rental a few years back.I had to get out of it because I coun't take the stress of all of these unexperienced drivers riding without any common sense. I would give them very specific instructions on the laws and operation of the craft, yet they would ride as if what I said meant nothing :banghead: . I had to be out there policing them and threatning them to end their rides.

I think that Markam needs to have an officer or park employee to stay on the lake and police the waters. On the second infraction, they would get kicked out for the session. On the third infraction, they would get kicked out forever:shooter3: The $10 we pay for the 3 hour session should cover the cost of that person on the water. maybe they should also establish a speed limit on the lake. 70 mph is way to fast for such a small lake. It's like doing 70mph on a two way street!

Sunday mornign was great on the lake.

You had about 7 boats there all with experienced riders, and there were absolutely no issues.

I agree with Waterfreak, it's not the type of boat there, it's the experience of the riders.

One thing to me about sectioning the lake off, the newbies that don't follow rules won't follow that rule either. They don't obey no-wake zones, they won't obey no-sitdown zones either.

I'm really going to have to buy some land and build a jetski lake, 400'x400', 10 feet deep except for the 20 feet by shore which will be 2 feet deep, with SportPort docks for 10 skis, umbrellas and picnic tables, a refrigerator and power for tools, a music system, etc. etc.

A guy can dream!!!
