My bilge pump toggle switch keeps going out on my sxr, it starts shortening out and then it dies...wtf. what is a good switch at a decent price. not the pole mounted one, bit too pricey. any suggestions????

There's a $5 dollar switch on eBay. It's a little button switch. I just started using it and I'm seeing how it will work. It says water proof and life time warranty

I get the marine switches from my local ace hardware, crimp on the connectors, then coat the whole thing epoxy. Then I use the rubber boot on the outside. I ride mostly salt and no problems for years

Ok, so I got a new sealed switch, and that was'nt it. Here is what is going on...put new switch in and after one day of riding and lots of water in the motor compartment my bilge turns on on its own, even in the off position....just keeps running. when you actualy turn the switch to on position it just pumps faster so there is a short somewhere but not the switch, it is grounded to itake manifold and all the conections are sealed, is it the actual pump that is going out? Are those the symptoms?

My switch did that on 2 different ones. Once it sat out of the water a few days it would work correctly, when wet it would run slow in off and fast in on.

I bought the switch from west marine, the body is completely sealed in rubber stuff and the toggle has a heavy duty rubber boot. There is just no way it is the switch after few hours of use. None of my other skis do it and they don't have the sealed body switch. Don't know, it is going to be elimanition process, startin with the bilge pump.
