Making a mold 101

I'm an idiot when it comes to fibreglass and I need a dummies guide to making a mold. Anyone want to do a step by step write up on how to make a mold? I want to make a mold of a SN noise piece and a mold of my hood after I lower it

I've read through quite a few threads where people briefly describe a making them, but it quite confuising when you've never seen or made a mold

For a small part like the nose piece, it should be fairly simple. Do you know what material you will be working with?

The easiest (IMO) is an epoxy system West System 105 resin with 205 hardener. Get the pumps that they sell for them! They will dispense the correct amount with one pump.

Make sure the part you want the mold of is waxed up REAL GOOD!!!! Find some mold release wax. I just picked up a can for around $8.00 so it's pretty cheap. Wax the crap out of the part so the glass wont stick to it when it is dry. If you are trying to do it with the filler cover still attached, then you need to make sure the seams are covered. If resin or glass gets between them, you are scr*wed. You wont be able to pop the mold when you are done.

If this is your first time - try making a mold of something small and simple just to get the hang of it. Like half of a coke can or something like that.
